Oh the Noise!!! The constant roar outside...the News "high wind alert"...the Night, hidden terror...fear...anxiety...intense concern about potential 60 mph winds ripping down branches and damaging cars and homes. Trying our best to sleep with all the noise that just threatened our little piece of security was near impossible, but we finally fell into a deep sleep.
What would the morning bring? Mass destruction ...incredible yard work clean up?
The daylight broke revealing the wierdest setting...not a single branch had fallen...no rubbish strewn about ...NO MASS DESTRUCTION??? BUT ALL THE ROAR WAS STILL THERE BUT NOT A SINGLE TREE OR TREE TOP WAS MOVING.
For whatever the reason the wind was maintaining an altitude that is a lot like our worries...threatening but never touching. It is not always this way with the worries in our life, but those who are "the called according to His purpose", known as His children ...when our worries become reality HE IS THERE.
John 6:18 - And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
(Devotional paraphrase: "And the vast body of the unknown was awakened by a threatening violent wind that moved with a purpose.")
JESUS IS HERE WITH US, NOW!
Even when there is a real threat against us HE does not leave us alone in the threat.
Isaiah 41:10 - Fear thou not; (don't allow your awe to distract you from Him)
for I am with thee: be not dismayed ; (focus your gaze on Him)
for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; (He will make you alert, courageous, brave, stout, and bold)
yea, I will help thee; (He will supply assistance and support)
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (He will grasp you with His Right hand of Deliverance)
Oh, if only we would allow troubles to make us draw closer to Him, to know Him more deeply.
